For Jack Winters, the day that changed everything began much like any other Saturday. The only thing that marked this day as different from any other was that this was the day his niece, Emily, turned eighteen.

He quickly reached his destination, unsure if what had just happened was real or a hallucination, but he decided to just ignore it. He knocked on the door and his sister, Alicia, opened it. "Hey sis. "Thanks", Alicia answered, confused at the compliment. She led him into the kitchen where the family had just finished Emily's birthday breakfast. "Happy birthday, kid", Jack said, handing Emily her gift as he sat down next to her.
