Dad sealed the mail-in portion of the License in a stamped pre-addressed envelope, and handed it to Hank and Janice to be delivered to the Post Office on the way to The Steak and Lobster House for our rehearsal dinner.
Day four continues here in State of Affair 6
Day four 7/12/??
Mitzi and I were forty-five minutes early and decided to have a glass of iced tea at a small table in the public portion of the restaurant while waiting 'til our reserved tables were ready.
Hank and Janice came in a few minutes later. I waved, inviting them to our table.
"How's work Hank?" I asked.
"Dad kept me busy working with two crew Chiefs the last couple months. He wants me to learn all I can from them, because he's setting up a third crew.
" We're building two custom houses, a commercial structure, and he wants me to start a spec house."
"What's a spec house Hank?" Janice asked.
"It's a house we build on speculation. Hoping someone is willing to pay our asking price for it. In our case, it's all cash. We don't borrow money for anything to do with the job, so we can maximize our profit.
"We finance the buyer through a Real Estate Contract.”
"When are you starting on the house?" Mitzi asked.
"This coming Monday. I have to lay out the site-work, install footing forms, set up temporary power, City water in, Sewer line out. The subs are already scheduled in the Project Timeline. We'll be pouring concrete for the footings Tuesday, and the foundation Friday, then the framers come in the following Monday.
"It'll take six weeks from start to finish, and then landscaping will be installed."
“Real Estate Contract? Are you retaining the contracts for long term income?” Janice asked.
“Yes. Our primary rate is 7%, and after sixty months probation; without late or missing a couple of payments. The interest rate drops to 5%.
"That’s the only discount we give unless the buyer pays a fifteen percent down payment.”
"Are you getting any 'work-based learning credit in school?" I asked.
"Yes, Dad and I heard about your situation, and I gather Janice also goes for the credits too, so we talked to the school about it last year. Surprisingly they were very cooperative about it.
“They gave me credit for my Freshman year, and the last two years, all I have to do now is get credit for this coming Senior year.
“I'll be a Journeyman Carpenter by the time I graduate this coming June."
"Document your spec house project for a class in school." Mitzi suggested.
"Does the school know about your CNA certification Mitzi?"
"No! Thanks for mentioning that! It's something I might get credit for."
"Dad says Janice will be ready for her Paralegal Certification test by the end of September this year. I'm guessing she'll be the youngest paralegal in this State."
"Thanks Paul. Dad hasn't told me yet."
I acknowledged Janice’s appreciation and asked Hank, “I hear you’re flippin’ houses, how have you been doing with that?”
“Almost two years ago, Dad turned down an opportunity to buy a Flipper, because it didn’t fit in his business model, and offered to help me get started on it as a project.”
“Flippin’ houses? What’s that?” Mitzi asked.
“House Flippers buy a house that is run down, and bring it back up to date with cleanup, repairs, and improvements. Then rent or lease it out, or sell it. Obviously for profit.”
“I sold my first one three months ago, and moved into my current Flipper five weeks ago.”
“You live in your Flipper?” Janice asked.
“I’ve learned the best way to deal with a project like that is live in it. The project is always right there; ready to work on when I get home.”
“I know exactly what you mean. I fix breakfast first thing in the morning, while Paul is in the staging area checking fluid levels on the tractor we are using first. Then he starts it and greases all the zerks as needed while he’s waiting for the tractor to warm up.
“Staging area?” Hank asked
“It’s within twenty yards of our front porch. Mitzi also sets up our Ice-Chest with lunch and beverages to eat and drink on the run.”
“So… You guys actually got married today, right?” The question came from Janice. I glanced at her and realized she was genuinely interested, rather than attacking.
“Yes… Mitzi and I were getting a lot of conviction from God about shacking up, and I called Pastor Adams about a wedding date, and he suggested a rehearsal today and the Marriage License got signed, witnessed, and dated this day, and you two dropped the mail-in copy in the mail on your way here.”
“It wasn’t exactly what Mitzi and I had in mind, but God’s way is more important than ours.”
“Our Moms are sending out invitations to the reception scheduled for Saturday after this coming Saturday.” Mitzi added.
Hank: “How long have you two been dating?”
Paul: “Our first date was yesterday, and we invited our parents and sisters along.”
Hank was speechless. I could see twenty questions coming pretty quick.
Mitzi: “We bought the Marriage License the day before our first date.”
Janice: “They accidentally inadvertently hooked up the day before they bought the Marriage License. To summarize; they hooked up on day one and got married on day four.”
I’d noted Mitzi carried very little in her purse, and I always thought it was too large, but she reached in her purse and pulled out a manila envelope for 8 by 10 documents and handed the “State of Affair” thesis to Hank. “This should help you understand.”
It was the document Dad handed back to me, so this was the first time Janice got a chance to read it.
Janice: “Wow! Now I know why Dad and Mom didn’t get upset.”
Hank chuckled, “The last two paragraphs describing your feelings about Mitzi indicates a story, longer than four days?”
Janice explained, "About two and a half years ago. Paul looked down the front of Mitzi's lavender shirt and saw a B Cup boob trying to escape from an A Cup bra , and as soon as he got home he wanked off two times and went to work, and when he got home at 10:30, Paul wanked off again and fell asleep.
"Then Paul ordered a hundred dollars of Lavender seed, and planted Lavender on his forty acres near the Barn.”
Hank’s eyebrows shot up. “Mitzi did that to you?”
“Without even trying.”
“Paul was using and abusing a pillow,” Mitzi interjected. “He screwed it three times the first day he saw my nipple, and nailed the pillow again first thing in the morning.”
All three were laughing hysterically now
Mitzi wasn’t giving me any slack at all. “Paul told me this morning. It gets better. Paul was wearing out an average of one pillow every five or six months. He called them; Mitzi one, Mitzi two, Mitzi three, and lost count.”
They finally settled down and Janice asked, “You name your pillows?”
“You name your Teddy Bears and Dolls, I name my pillows.”
“Mitzi’s nipple was the final punctuation mark in my decision making process concerning women two and a half years ago. I lost focus on all other women, but as I said to Mitzi yesterday. I could not find a perfect opportunity to talk with her without distractions.”
“Sometimes the best opportunity is now,” Hank said. “A year ago in the last week of May on Friday was a bright sunny day, and at the end of last period the school-bell rang.
"I turned to slide out from the desk and dropped a book on the floor. As I picked the book up I glanced to the left and saw a perfect up-skirt beaver shot as bald as a pink Cue-ball, with the sun reflecting off the floor lighting it up.”
“Like I said, it was Friday. I do piece-work for Dad sometimes when it pays better.
"I had to sheet rock a house that weekend, so I had a chance to think about what to do about what I saw.”
Janice saw me catch her blushing, and covered her face with her hands. “Janice? You appear to be a guilty party, how do you plead?”
“Innocent.” We could see Janice struggling to regain her composure.
“Do you have a defense statement?”
She nodded, still struggling, “Yes. I had to rinse my panty and left it hanging in my locker to dry.”
“Don’t worry about it Hank. All Maitham girls leak,” Mitzi spoke in response to Hank’s questioning stare.
We chuckled. I actually felt sorry for her embarrassment.
“First class Monday morning, I find a pink Rose Bush on my desk. There was a little envelope sealed by a Happy Face sticker. I saw the price tag still stuck on the pot, and thought, ‘How crude’.”
Janice paused to blow her nose, and wipe the tears from her eyes. Mitzi set a small Kleenex dispenser in front of her.
“I texted Paul and asked him to put the Rose Bush in his pickup, and give me a ride home after school.
"I sliced the envelope open, so I wouldn’t ruin the Happy Face sticker."
“Mom told me to hide the note in my Hope Chest, and pointed out the fact the receipt was taped to the pot, so I could exchange it for something else if I didn’t like it. I guess you’re not so crude after all Hank.”
“That’s the Rose Bush next to the front porch steps?” I asked.
“Yep, the neighbor dog kept pissing on it, so I put an electric plate under it, and disconnected the ground wire. That dog gone dog’s gone.”
Curiosity got the better of me and I had to ask. “What did the note say Janice?
“It said, ‘Pretty pink Roses for a lovely view of a pretty pink Kitty ~ a Secret Admirer.”
“Paul calls mine, ‘Warm and Fuzzy’.”
A waiter told us our tables are ready, so we carried our beverages into the Banquet Room about ten minutes before prayer.
Our Moms and Dads came in a few minutes later with Uncle Bill, Bob, Aunt Helen, and surprisingly, Uncle Joe, and Grandpa Andrew Maitham.
Janice and I grabbed our significant others for introductions to inlaws, outlaws, and of course Grandpa.
Janice introduced Hank, and Mitzi to those closest to us visa versa.
Judy and her escort Bill Jennen walked into another round of introductions, this time Mitzi officiated.
Mitzi also introduced me to the last CNA client of hers as Auntie Wallace.
Pastor Dave Adams blessed the meal, and prayed for Almighty God to make Himself real in a good way to everyone in the building.
Dave also announced marriage classes on Friday and Saturday evenings. It would be a good place to bring your date.
We’re using long tables as opposed to round tables this time. Bill Jennen is seated next to Judith and Judith is directly across from Mitzi, Aunt Helen is directly across from me, and Grandpa slipped into the seat next to Mitzi, and of course I’m also seated next to Mitzi.
Grandpa and Mitzi had been visiting steady about twenty minutes. I wasn’t worried about anything Grandpa had to say to Mitzi.
Grandpa is the family Patriarch, the wisest of each of us.
Everything his children and I learned from him is the truth. He showed each of us the three best sources of timeless wisdom.
I know a couple of his boys need to spend more time with him.
Aunt Helen found the forty acre deal I bought three years ago, now she has researched eighty acres I noticed was turning out poor crops, because the nutritional value of the land was run down (I’m always watching for distressed properties).
Aunt Helen handed me an envelope across the table. “It’s everything you need to know to contact and start negotiations for the eighty acres you’re interested in.”
“Thank you Aunt Helen, the crop on that land right now isn’t worth a plug nickel. Did you see how he’s doing with property taxes?”
“He paid the first half the day before it was due, but his credit rating is shot. I’m looking now to see if he has other properties available.”
“Odds are he’ll tell me first thing in the morning when I call him.”
“I agree. Don’t forget the Board Meeting two weeks from now.”
“Thanks, I’ll put it in my phone right now. The twenty-sixth right?
“Correct.”
Mitzi and I left The Steak and Lobster House at 8:00.
She didn’t say much on the way back to the cabin.
Usually when you get in a conversation with Grandpa Andrew, there is a lot to ponder later.
Mitzi and I got home, stripped, stepped in the shower, thoroughly scrubbed each other, her arms are around my neck, and kissing me while I’m massaging her scalp.
After rinsing and toweling off, Mitzi wrapped her legs around me, and I carried her to bed, crawled in, and positioned myself under the covers in the center of the bed with Mitzi still coupled, and rolled over, so she could be on top.
“I love it when your Warm and Fuzzy drools on me.”
“I wanted to shave it bald today and surprise you, but I needed a nap too. See if you can find more erogenous zones along my spine like the one that makes my clit tingle. I might fall asleep before I reach a climax. If you don’t get your rocks off, I’ll make up for it tomorrow.”
“We hooked up on day one, and got married on day four. We’re just getting started Mitzi. Just getting started.”
